Jude Bellingham became embroiled in a post-match altercation following England’s World Cup semi-final loss to Argentina. The incident unfolded as tensions flared after the final whistle, with the England midfielder at the center of a heated confrontation involving players from both teams.
Barco responded with visible frustration when Bellingham engaged in a verbal exchange. Argentina’s Nico Paz initially intervened, attempting to separate the players. The situation escalated further when Nicolas Otamendi confronted Bellingham, physically pushing him in the chest.
Two of England’s reserve goalkeepers, James Trafford and Dean Henderson, rushed onto the field to confront Otamendi. Bellingham was subsequently escorted away by England striker Ollie Watkins, as onlookers captured the chaotic scene.
International football’s governing body is now expected to review the incident. Bellingham could face disciplinary action, including a suspension, ahead of England’s third-place play-off against France. The match will take place in Miami, with kick-off scheduled for 10 p.m. BST on Saturday.
