Police intensify hunt for suspect in 2022 unsolved murder

Ding Ping Wang, a 31‑year‑old husband, father and owner of a kitchen‑cabinet business, was shot dead inside his vehicle on November 12, 2022 at approximately 6:29 p.m. in the parking lot at the intersection of Midland Avenue and Passmore Avenue. Detectives classified the killing as a targeted homicide.

Surveillance footage released by Toronto Police shows a suspect conducting reconnaissance of the area on November 11, 2022 before returning the following day to fire a single shot with his left hand, striking Wang and causing fatal injuries. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, becoming the city’s 62nd homicide of the year.

Investigators have spent hundreds of hours reviewing video evidence and have now produced an artist’s rendering of the alleged shooter based on a new witness statement. The composite and additional security footage depict the suspect walking the same route on foot on both days surrounding the murder.

DO YOU KNOW THIS MAN? Cops say he is responsible for a 2022 murder.

Police are urging anyone who recognizes the individual in the rendering or who possesses further information to come forward. Detectives emphasize that Wang did not lead a high‑risk lifestyle, suggesting the perpetrator is known to someone in the community.

Authorities continue to pursue leads and have issued a direct appeal for tips, providing the phone number 416‑808‑7400 for confidential information.
