Chelsea are preparing to submit an improved bid of around £70m for the transfer of Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott.
Multiple sources indicate that Scott remains a top target for Chelsea this summer, despite the Blues' initial £64m bid being rejected by Bournemouth.
The Cherries, who value Scott at £80m, are reportedly unwilling to sell the 22-year-old Englishman, but Chelsea are determined to make another offer and start negotiations.
Notably, Chelsea's desire to sign Scott is not affected by their imminent move for Jordan Henderson, which is expected to bring another younger player to the squad.
While Chelsea appear to be the favourites for Scott's signature, several other clubs, including Manchester United, Liverpool, and Tottenham, are also interested in the midfielder and have made enquiries.
Chelsea have done the most work on signing Scott, but it remains to be seen whether Bournemouth will accept their improved bid of £70m.
Other clubs could still enter the conversation, and Liverpool, in particular, have a connection to Scott through their manager, Andoni Iraola, who is a big fan of the player.
