Rep. Ayanna Pressley, a Democrat from Massachusetts, addressed the discovery of a dead body at a Boston home owned by her husband on Wednesday.
The victim, identified as 18‑year‑old Yoseliani Marte, was found shot to death. Homicide detectives have taken over the investigation.
Pressley said she did not know the victim and expressed deep sympathy for the family, emphasizing the need to center the victim in the public response.

She added that, as a mother of an 18‑year‑old daughter preparing for college, her heart feels especially heavy.
Pressley highlighted her long‑standing work advocating for accountability and healing for survivors of all crimes, stating that focusing on the victim is paramount.
When asked for additional details, she declined to comment further and left the interview.
