An Arsenal player has been questioned by prosecutors as part of an investigation into an agency accused of hosting celebrities and footballers at events across a city. The player is not under formal investigation.
The agency is alleged to have ties to around 50 sportsmen, including other footballers. The investigation also involves Inter Milan star Alessandro Bastoni, 27, who is accused of having a sexual relationship with an underage girl.
Bastoni denies the claims against him and did not appear at the prosecutor’s office for questioning. He received a blind summons to the Milan Prosecutor’s Office, which under Italian law, does not imply guilt.
The alleged incident involving Bastoni reportedly occurred in July 2021, when he was 21, and the girl was 17 and eight months old. The girl testified that she is not a prostitute and did not take money for sex.
The investigation is being led by prosecutor Rosaria Stagnaro and deputy prosecutor Bruna Albertini. The players are among the first to face questioning as part of the probe.
