Revised Headline: Apple Impact: Changing iPhone Acquisition Methods

Apple has introduced a new pricing structure for its iPhone Upgrade Program, increasing the monthly cost for customers. The updated plan presents a real monthly cost of $44.98, which is higher than the previous $42.41 charged under the previous program. Over the course of the first year, when most Upgrade Program members traded in their iPhone for a new one, the total cost amounts to $539.76 compared to the $508.92 incurred in the previous plan.

This shift signifies a noticeable change in Apple's pricing strategy. By separating AppleCare from the advertised monthly payment, Apple aims to promote a lower starting price while slightly raising the overall cost of ownership for customers who wish to maintain the same protection they had before.

For existing iPhone Upgrade Program members, their subscription will continue as per their current program duration until they have made 24 payments or decide to upgrade to a new device. However, for new customers, Apple's iPhone Upgrade Program, regarded as one of the simplest ways to purchase an iPhone, has concluded.
