A suspect was arrested in Oklahoma City moments after throwing a Molotov cocktail at a man in a wheelchair near police headquarters. The arrest came quickly, thanks to surveillance footage that captured the entire disturbing incident.
According to authorities, the man in the wheelchair was crossing a street diagonally at around 8 a.m. on July 2 when the suspect, identified as Alexander Emery, approached him. Emery, 38, was seen lighting something before hurling the incendiary device at the victim.
The object thrown by Emery set the victim's clothes ablaze, momentarily surrounding him in flames. Emery then pushed the wheelchair towards the victim, causing him to fall backwards out of the chair and into the flames. Witnesses and officers quickly responded to the scene, pulling the victim to safety and detaining Emery.
The victim suffered minor injuries but is expected to recover after receiving treatment at a local hospital. Emery faces multiple felony charges, including assault with intent to kill and assault and battery with a deadly weapon. A motive for the incident has not been disclosed.
