Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur Hospitalized Following Medical Emergency

Democrat Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur was hospitalized on Sunday after a hit-and-run car crash in Toledo, Ohio.

The 80-year-old Ohio lawmaker was on her way to church when a vehicle crashed into her car, with Rep. Kaptur serving as a passenger at the time of the crash.

Rep. Kaptur is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries, and a statement from her office reported that she is active, alert, and receiving medical attention.

The statement further noted that Congresswoman Kaptur is thankful for the quick actions of first responders from Toledo Police and Fire Departments and the medical professionals helping to care for those involved in the crash.

She also expressed her gratitude to the hundreds of constituents who have reached out, and her office looks forward to returning to a full schedule soon.

The driver of the other vehicle fled the scene after the crash, which was described by police as a "hit-skip.".

Two people were taken to a hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening, with officers responding to the crash shortly before 11 a.m.

A witness reported that the other driver was picked up by another vehicle and fled the scene shortly after the crash.
