A police cordon was in place on the A4 as investigators worked to piece together the events surrounding a fatal knife attack on Monday. Haruun Hassan was pronounced dead at the scene.
Forensics officers scoured the area for clues while detectives carried out door-to-door inquiries and reviewed CCTV footage. Footage taken on the night bus where the attack occurred will also be analyzed as part of the investigation.
Witnesses described the scene as chaotic, with police and paramedics rushing to attend to the victim. One witness reported seeing a young man lying on the ground, appearing to have just exited the bus, with paramedics attempting to save him.
The A4 westbound carriageway was closed for a whole day to allow investigators to conduct their inquiries, causing significant disruptions to rush hour traffic. The police driver was spoken to by investigators and appeared to be in shock.
The investigation is being led by Detective Chief Inspector Paul Waller, who urged anyone with information to come forward. He emphasized that the police are working quickly to gather evidence and that any information, no matter how minor it may seem, could be crucial to solving the case.
Police patrols in the area have been increased, and residents are being encouraged to report any concerns to officers. Anyone with information can contact the police on 101 or remain anonymous by contacting Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
