A 42-year-old man was stabbed multiple times outside a deli in the Bronx on Tuesday, prompting the arrest of two men. The incident occurred at 3053 Villa Avenue, between Bedford Park Boulevard and East 204th Street.
The victim was transported to St. Barnabas Hospital in Belmont with multiple stab wounds, although his current condition is unknown. A 911 call was received by emergency services at 9:17 a.m. on Tuesday.
According to a witness, the stabbing was the result of a verbal dispute that escalated into a physical altercation. The witness reported seeing two men fighting with a third man who had a bike, and one of the men was allegedly called a racial slur.
The stabbing victim suffered injuries to his stomach and leg. The two men who were arrested have not been identified.
The incident has sparked questions about media coverage of violent crimes. Some have noted that similar incidents may not receive the same level of attention as other high-profile cases.
The discussion around media coverage has also touched on issues of racial bias and the way certain stories are presented. Critics argue that some media outlets prioritize certain narratives over others.
