Rayo Vallecano midfielder Pep Chavarria has expressed a desire to join Chelsea, prompting transfer talks between the two clubs.
Chelsea’s initial bid of €9 million plus add‑ons was rejected by Vallecano, which insists the player will not be sold unless his £21.5 million release clause is activated. The Spanish side’s financial constraints, following a recent UEFA fine and the absence of European competition this season, further complicate the negotiations.
Meanwhile, Everton secured the permanent transfer of Tyrique George for an initial fee of £18 million. Club owner Todd Boehly has invested more than £100 million on new signings this window and has recovered £65 million through the sales of Cucurella and George.
To balance the books, Everton may need additional departures to fund a new centre‑back. Candidates on the club’s shortlist include Palace vice‑captain Maxence Lacroix and Como’s Jacobo Ramon.
The club is also considering a permanent sale of winger Alejandro Garnacho, who finished his first season with one goal and four assists in 24 Premier League appearances. A loan move has not been discussed; only a permanent transfer is being contemplated.
