TfL Officers Catch Man Who Dodged Over £20,000 in Train Fares.
Using a sophisticated IT system, the digital footprint of the man's card revealed it had been used on the Elizabeth line for over 12 months, triggering an investigation.
Staff trawled through CCTV footage for hours, matching it to the date and times the card was used, and waited at Whitechapel Station for 4 hours to catch the suspect.
As the man approached, an officer said, 'I feel that might be him, that's him!' After scanning the man's TfL card, investigators proved he was the person they were looking for.
'You need to come with us,' another officer said, before taking the man behind closed doors at the station to ask for ID.
