Exploring the Significance of "Hither, Swarms of Officers" in the Declaration of Independence

In this article, we explore the Founding Fathers' vision of government and how it has evolved over time. The Declaration of Independence mentions a phrase that has intrigued me for years: "He has erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harrass our people, and eat out their substance."

The original Constitution established a small and efficient government structure during the time of the first federal administrations involving wars such as World War I, the Great Depression, World War II, the Cold War, the War on Drugs, and the War on Terror, among others.

Currently, there are approximately 448 government agencies. However, the exact number is subject to debate.
