Marseille is close to selling Mason Greenwood, with Fenerbahce leading the race to sign him. The Turkish club is reportedly close to completing a deal, but Atletico Madrid is still in contention. Roma had also expressed interest in the England international, but it appears to be a two-horse race between Fenerbahce and Atletico.
Fenerbahce believes it can secure the deal for around €45m, and personal terms with Greenwood have been agreed. A four-year contract has reportedly been struck to take Greenwood to Istanbul. The transfer would be a significant move for the 22-year-old, who has been prolific since joining Marseille.
Manchester United has a sell-on clause in Greenwood's transfer agreement, which is believed to be around 50% of profit on his next permanent move. With Marseille expected to make a profit of £10m-£12m, United would receive £5m-£6m as part of the clause. This sum is not expected to impact United's summer transfer plans.
United's transfer plans have been frustrated so far, with the club missing out on several targets. However, deals have been agreed to bring in Ederson from Atalanta and Andrey Santos from Chelsea. The club is also close to signing Santos for an initial £48m, with a further £2m in add-ons.
