A streamer with a following exceeding one million viewers sparked a viral controversy after invoking the name of New York City’s mayor while proclaiming that Islam would dominate the city.
The online personality, known as Sneako and legally named Nicolas Kenn De Balinthazy, has built a reputation for provocative content and has previously aligned with both far‑right and far‑left movements, including support for a 2016 presidential campaign. He announced his conversion to Islam in 2023.
During a live broadcast from the streets of New York following Egypt’s victory over Australia in the World Cup, Sneako shouted “Allahu Akbar!” amid a crowd of Egyptian fans waving flags and sounding drums.
He declared, “This is the Islamic Republic of New York‑istan. Islam will be in every household. Inshallah the whole world will be Muslim,” and referenced the mayor by name, suggesting the city would soon resemble his vision.
The clip quickly spread across multiple platforms, accumulating tens of millions of views and prompting a wave of criticism from viewers.
A former Navy SEAL who participated in the raid that killed Osama bin Laden commented that the remarks sounded markedly different when heard at night. A conspiracy theorist demanded immediate deportation, while the platform’s owner responded affirmatively to that demand.
Other users labeled the streamer a “disgusting creature” and suggested sending him abroad, reflecting the intensity of the backlash.
In a subsequent post, the streamer wrote, “Every knee will bow, every tongue confess,” and later rebuked the platform’s owner with a remark about returning to Africa, referencing the owner’s birthplace.
The mayor’s office declined to provide comment on the streamer’s statements.
