Freed sex offender allegedly poses as doctor, sexually assaults student at Arizona elementary school: police

A wave of terror washed over an Arizona elementary school last week when a convicted sex offender, recently released from prison, allegedly infiltrated Orangewood Elementary and brutally assaulted a young student.

Abel Kai Gblah, 25, is now facing charges of sexual assault and kidnapping after authorities say he brazenly posed as a doctor to gain the trust of a grade-school girl.

Police responded to a frantic call from school administrators on November 19th, reporting a horrifying incident unfolding on campus. The scene they discovered was one of unimaginable violation.

Investigators learned that Gblah had somehow gained access to the school grounds and deceptively lured the young victim into a classroom under the guise of a medical examination.

The girl, displaying incredible courage, managed to fight off her attacker, pushing him away before he could inflict further harm. Gblah then fled the scene, leaving behind a trail of fear and trauma.

Court documents reveal Gblah initially gained the student’s attention by claiming he needed to examine her, exploiting the inherent trust children place in medical professionals.

This wasn’t Gblah’s first encounter with the law. He was released from prison just two weeks prior, having previously been convicted twice in 2021 for sexual conduct with a minor – and is a registered sex offender.

Adding another layer of complexity to the case, reports indicate Gblah was also allegedly involved in human smuggling operations across the U.S. border.

The Washington Elementary School District immediately initiated a lockdown lasting over an hour, while simultaneously contacting 911. The district confirmed Gblah was on campus for approximately ten minutes, during which he made inappropriate contact with the student.

Initial reports suggested Gblah may have entered the school behind another student, but a subsequent investigation revealed a far more unsettling truth: he simply walked through an unlocked lobby door, blending in with a student arriving late to class.

The district has placed a staff member on administrative leave as they conduct a thorough review of their safety protocols and communication procedures, desperately seeking answers and ways to prevent a recurrence.

Principal Emily Paterson addressed the community, acknowledging the alarm and fear the incident has caused, and pledging a comprehensive overhaul of security measures.

Gblah is currently being held on a $500,000 cash-only bond, with a preliminary hearing scheduled for December 1st. The community now waits, demanding justice and grappling with the terrifying reality that a predator walked freely among their children.
