Eddie Howe is expected to leave Newcastle United just weeks before the club’s Premier League season opener against Liverpool.
Club officials are in advanced negotiations with Matthias Jaissle, currently head coach of Saudi Pro League side Al‑Ahli, to assume the managerial role.
Howe described his summer as painful after the departures of midfielders Sandro Tonali and Anthony Gordon.

He stressed that the club does not want to lose its best players, noting that losing those two was particularly difficult.
Howe added that the period has been challenging and that the organization remains focused on strengthening the squad both in the short term and long term.
Newcastle captain Bruno Guimarães has indicated a desire to join Arsenal, prompting the London club to pursue his transfer.

The club now faces the dual tasks of securing a new manager and managing player turnover ahead of the season’s start.
