Arsenal Urged to Exercise Caution in Transfer Dealings as Nacho Monreal Identifies Top Targets

Arsenal Urged to Exercise Caution in Transfer Dealings as Nacho Monreal Identifies Top Targets

The north London giants are reportedly set to make a big-money switch for Newcastle's Bruno Guimaraes, as Arsenal continues to pursue the Brazilian midfielder.

Guimaraes has informed Newcastle of his desire to join Arsenal, and Mikel Arteta's team is believed to be doing everything in their power to prise him away from St James' Park.

The move would be a significant coup for Arsenal, who splashed out in excess of £250m on transfer fees 12 months ago, bringing in several high-profile signings. However, the club must be similarly ambitious in this summer's transfer market in order to build on the success they have achieved under Arteta.

Arsenal Training Session

Arsenal's former left-back, Nacho Monreal, believes the club must bring in support and competition for Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli on the left wing, which has been a mixed campaign for both players.

Monreal, who won three FA Cups with the Gunners, has praised the quality of the squad but suggests that one area where they must improve is on the left flank.

He has identified Nico Williams, Athletic Bilbao's winger, as the kind of player who could come in and make a difference, but has concerns over Williams' injury woes.

Monreal has also expressed his desire to see Khvicha Kvaratskhelia or Bradley Barcola join the club, suggesting that one of them would be a dream addition for the left flank.

The future of Martin Odegaard has been the subject of some speculation in recent weeks, with the Gunners indicated to be willing to negotiate a potential sale if they receive a suitable offer.

However, Monreal feels that Arsenal would be making a grave mistake were they to allow the Norway international to leave, citing the obvious quality he has in his locker.

Monreal has also expressed his confidence in Viktor Gyokeres, who scored 14 league goals in his debut season at Arsenal, and believes that the Swede can add more goals to his game in his second season with the club.

Gyokeres' work ethic has impressed Monreal, who believes that the striker will improve next season and do better in terms of numbers.
